HYDERABAD: In a recent development, NIA has summoned university professor K. Satyanarayana and a senior journalist K.V. Kurmanath, to appear before it on Wednesday in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case. Already the NIA team in 2018 searched the house of K.Satyanarayana who is a professor in EFLU, Hyderabad but no incriminating material was found. Kurmanath, a senior journalist who has been working with a national daily, was surprised to receive the summons. “I wish to share the distressing news that NIA, Mumbai, summoned me to appear before it as a witness on 9th September. My co-brother K V Kurmanath, a senior journalist, was also summoned to appear on the same date. I have already stated that I am no way connected to the Bhima Koregaon case. Varavara Rao being my father in law was used to raid my house and cause mental agony,” said Prof K Satyanarayana in a statement. Notices were served under section 160 and 91 of Cr.P.C. Kurmanath told The Daily Guardian, “yes notices were served to us. We worry about traveling to Mumbai in this Covid-19 time”.
