A woman met with an accident in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar neighbourhood while attempting to avoid a pothole on the road. She later succumbed to her injuries.
On Monday, a mother and daughter on a two-wheeler were trying to dodge a pothole when they were struck by a speeding bus. The 50-year-old suffered severe wounds. On Magadi Road, the accident happened close to Sujata Theater.
The victims have been identified as Umadevi, the deceased woman, and Sunitha, her daughter.
“My mother’s death happened due to potholes on the roads and we are asking for justice and compensation from the government. We are from a very backward class and my mother was the only woman to take care of us,” said the deceased’s daughter.
“We are requesting the BBMP to fix all the potholes in the city. We will file a complaint against BBMP and the KSRTC bus driver,” said the deceased’s family members.
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath visited the accident scene and assessed the site with officers after the unfortunate tragedy. Last night, company executives erected barricades.
