Bengaluru on alert after bomb threat

In the aftermath of the recent bomb blast at Rameswaram Cafe in Bengaluru, the city is once again on edge as authorities received a bomb threat via email. The Chief Minister, Home Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and other officials were targeted, receiving an ominous message vowing to bomb Rameswaram Cafe.

The explosion occurred at Rameswaram Cafe on March 1, at approximately 1 pm, followed by a threatening email sent to the government on March 2 at 2:48 pm. Investigators are currently probing the connection between the cafe blast and the sender of the email, identified as Shahid Khan. On March 4, the CCB police registered a case, actively pursuing leads in this alarming development.

The email, attributed to Shahid Khan, explicitly threatened to detonate bombs at various locations in Bangalore unless a sum of 2.5 million dollars was paid. Targets included buses, trains, and bus stands. The CM, Home Minister, DCM, and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner all received warnings of potential bomb blasts echoing the Rameswaram Cafe incident.

A spontaneous complaint was registered by the CCB police, focusing their investigation on the email’s origin, traced back to 10786progon@gmail.com. Efforts are underway to unveil the identity of Shahid Khan and thwart any potential attacks.
Despite five days passing since the Rameswaram Cafe bombing, the perpetrator remains at large. Intensive efforts, including the collaboration of the FSL team, CCB police, and NIA officers, are ongoing, fueled by the urgency magnified by the latest bomb threat.

This incident echoes previous bomb threats in Bangalore schools, but the current threat stands out, targeting public transportation hubs akin to the Rameswaram Cafe bombing. Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken charge of the Rameswaram Cafe bomb blast case. NIA officials conducted on-site inspections, scrutinizing the cafe’s cash counter, explosion site, and CCTV footage, gathering crucial information from cafe staff. The city remains on high alert as authorities intensify efforts to ensure public safety in the face of these ominous threats.
