Bengal Cabinet rejig on Wednesday, “Not possible handle alone,” says Mamta

The Bengal Cabinet will be reorganised on Wednesday, according to the announcement made by the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, on Monday. The chief minister stated in a briefing that at least four more hires can be anticipated. The announcement comes shortly after Partha Chatterjee and his assistant Arpita Mukherjee were detained in connection with the school jobs investigation and later suspended from their positions as state ministers.

“We will reshuffle the cabinet on Wednesday. There will be four or five new faces,” declared the CM.

She also mentioned Partha Chatterjee and added, “We don’t have a plan to dissolve the whole ministry and form a new one. Yes, there will be a reshuffle. We lost ministers Subrata Mukherjee, Sadhan Pande. Partha is in jail, so all their work has to be done. It is not possible for me to handle it alone.”

She further talked about the seven newly formed districts, which have increased the total number from 23 to 30 in Bengal.

She added, “The seven new districts include Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and one more district will be named Basirhat.”

The opposition, especially the BJP, has sharply criticised the Trinamool Congress administration over the arrest of Partha Chatterjee and her assistant on the school jobs issue. According to reports, Mamata Banerjee was close to Chatterjee.

21 crore in cash was seized from Chatterjee’s house during the raid.

The chief minister stated last week that if he was guilty, he should be punished but that her name should not be brought up in the process, making it abundantly apparent that her government had no tolerance for corruption.
