BEED RAPE VICTIM FORCED TO LEAVE HER VILLAGE

A 30-year-old girl dwelling in Beed district of Maharashtra has alleged that the gram panchayat passed a decision to deport her and is now being forced by the folks there to leave the village. The girl was gang-raped in 2015. An official of the native administration mentioned that not only her village, which is located in Gevrai tehsil, but two adjoining villages have also passed a decision to deport her.

Police mentioned that the lady has lodged a grievance in opposition to villagers calling her abusive and the matter is being investigated. Police mentioned that the lady was raped 5 years ago in the past when she went to break cotton in the village farm. Police mentioned that earlier this year, the court had sentenced four convicts to life imprisonment in the case. The lady mentioned that a notice was pasted on the door of her home asking her to leave the village. She additionally alleged that the villagers are threatening her. She mentioned, “The village servant had pasted a notice on the door of my home asking me to leave the village. A decision was additionally passed to deport me from the village….”

“The government should give me justice. It should tell me where I should go,”she added. Block Development Officer Anirudh Sanap said, “On August 15 this year, three villages passed resolutions to deport the woman. During our investigation, it was found that these villages located next to each other passed different resolutions.” He said, “The victim had alleged that the village servant had pasted a notice on her door to leave the village. When we questioned the village servant about this, he mentioned that the notice was associated to encroachment. ” Sanap said, “We have submitted a report of our superiors and they will take further action in this matter.”

When contacted, Beed Deputy Superintendent of Police Swapnil Rathod mentioned, “The woman has also made a complaint against some villagers for allegedly abusing her.” Some villagers approached us on Monday and mentioned that we must not heed to her grievance. ”

He mentioned, “But it is not possible that we do not take cognizance of the complaint. We are investigating it.” When requested in regards to the choice to deport the lady from the village, the village sarpanch mentioned, “It was a demand of the people of the village and we passed the resolution in August and acted accordingly.”
