Tragedy struck in Bathinda, Punjab, as a domestic gas cylinder explosion led to a devastating fire in a slum during the early hours of Tuesday. The incident resulted in the loss of two young lives, aged six and seven, while another child sustained severe injuries.
The Municipal Commissioner of Bathinda, Rahul, confirmed that the fire, triggered by the explosion of LPG gas cylinders, engulfed 10 slums in the Oriya Colony area. The intensity of the explosion was such that it caused four other nearby cylinders to also burst.
As the authorities investigate the cause of the blast, efforts are underway to provide support to the affected families. The administration has pledged compensation and financial assistance from relief funds to assist the victims. Additionally, temporary arrangements have been made, with the families relocated to a night shelter for the time being.
The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with gas cylinder mishaps and highlights the importance of stringent safety measures in residential areas to prevent such unfortunate accidents.
