Banur Municipal Council Ropes in Students for minimising Plastic Pollution in daily life

An environmentally sound initiative was taken by the Municipal Council, Banur under the guidance of Aashika Jain, IAS, Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar, in which school students were motivated to come forward and join hands to reduce plastic pollution in society.
They were sensitised that in our day-to-day life, plastic is the main source of pollution. Even recyclable plastic products are discarded without any processing. Apart from environmental issues, plastic poses a major health threat to humans as well as animals.
In this campaign, 07 main Schools of Banur participated in making Waste to Wonder projects. Students from almost all classes gave their best in the competition. 75 students came up for the event held in the Municipal Office, Banur. A vibrant display of items was displayed by the students, and they explained about their projects, and how they could help in reducing the ecological footprint. Students even gave speeches on the given topics, namely, the effects of SUP and the importance of waste segregation Amandeep Kaur, CF Banur, played a key part in arranging this event. The “Plastic Waste to Wonder” project was an innovative initiative aimed at addressing the issue of plastic waste. It typically involves recycling plastic waste into useful products or art installations. The concept was not only environmentally responsible but also served as a reminder of the importance of recycling and reducing plastic waste. It inspired awareness and action in the fight against plastic
pollution.
A great deal of motivation was seen among the students to practice source segregation in their daily lives, and to motivate their elders for the same. They were shown the processing method of wet waste that inspired them to be a part of this environment-friendly approach. All the participants were awarded with certificates and the winners were awarded with shields in order to keep their spirits up for future endeavours.
