The website of Zee Media Corporation Limited has been hacked by a Bangladeshi hacker group known as “SYSTEMADMINBD.” The group claimed responsibility for the cyberattack, accusing Zee Media of mocking the situation in Bangladesh. A Google search result for the Zee Media website now reads, “Hacked By SYSTEMADMINBD,” along with a warning that if the publication continues its “dirty behavior,” the group will “take over and destroy the news channel.”
According to the cybersecurity website HackRead, the Zee Media website was defaced on August 21, 2024. The homepage featured a screenshot of a ZEE TV Bangla news article with a headline that, when translated, reads: “India left the water! Bangladesh is floating.” The article reportedly contained potentially mocking phrases, such as, “Due to the flood, the authorities have opened the dam of the Dambur hydroelectric project. And that’s why Bangladesh is going to float.”
SYSTEMADMINBD, a hacktivist group active since 2023, has been involved in various cyber activities, including website defacements, data breaches, and hacktivism. The group has previously targeted government websites in Bangladesh and India, as well as business entities in Israel and Europe.
