Bandaru Dattatreya encourages youth to pursue sports as career

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya Commends UTT 85th Senior National and Inter State Table Tennis Championship-2023
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya expressed great joy in attending the UTT 85th Senior National and Inter State Table Tennis Championship-2023 organized by Haryana Table Tennis Association at Tau Devi Lal Stadium. He extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the organizers, players, and sports enthusiasts.
Governor Dattatreya highlighted that 757 players from all states and various institutions across the country are participating in this championship, with 33 men›s teams and 32 women›s teams involved. Referring to it as the «Mahakumbh of table tennis,» he commended the organizers for the success of the championship.
He acknowledged the stellar performance of Indian table tennis players at the international level, including Olympians A. Sharad Kamal, Harmeet Desai, Suthirta Mukherjee, and Ayhika Mukherjee participating in this championship. Notably, Haryana player Suhana and her partner Yashaswini Ghorpade hold the world number 1 ranking in the under-19 category doubles.Governor Dattatreya praised the «Khelo India» program initiated by the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi›s leadership, providing a platform for identifying and nurturing sports talents. Additionally, he highlighted the TOPS program, offering selected players annual financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh.
He underscored Haryana›s evolution into a sports hub, not only in traditional field sports but also in indoor sports like table tennis. The Governor commended the state›s athletes for bringing glory to India despite its small land area, expressing particular pride in the achievements of Haryana›s daughters in various competitions.
