Election Commission sets January 5 as polling date for Karanpur seat in Rajasthan
The Election Commission of India, on Monday, extended the ban on election rallies until 11 February because of the current Covis situation. However, the Commission granted some relaxations to political parties to the extent that indoor meetings of a maximum of 500 persons (instead of existing 300 persons) or 50% of the capacity of the hall or the prescribed limit set by SDMA are now allowed, the official statement of ECI reads.
In open spaces, the ECI allowed a meeting of maximum 1,000 persons instead of the current 500, or 50% of the capacity of the hall or the prescribed limit set by the SDMA.
However, the ban on roadshows, padayatras, cycle/bike/vehicle rallies will continue up to 11 February.
