In various districts of Punjab, significant athletic events are being organized under the stern initiative of anti-drug campaigns. A grand athletics meet took place in Khanna at A.S. College Stadium on Sutlej Road. The event witnessed the participation of prominent figures, including Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal, DIG Ludhiana Range Dhanpreet Kaur, SSP Khanna Amanpreet Kondal, along with numerous renowned artists and athletes from Punjab. The athletics meet commenced with a torch march led by master athletes.
Following the march, competitions were held for various events, including 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, high jump, long jump, and several other contests.
Dhanpreet Kaur, DIG, mentioned that the district police collaborated with the civil administration to organize the athletics meet. The youth were encouraged to participate in sports and cultural programs. She conveyed a message to the young generation that it is essential to eradicate drug abuse for the upliftment of Punjab’s name on the global stage.
SSP Amanpreet Kondal expressed that individuals above 14 years of age participated in the event. The meet aimed to engage the youth in sports to keep them away from drug addiction. He highlighted the support of Punjabi artists in the initiative and emphasized that their message against drug abuse would raise awareness among the people.DC Surabhi Malik mentioned that the civil and police administration, under the guidance of SAIM Bhagwant Mann, is taking effective steps against drug abuse. A large-scale event organized under the leadership of SSP Amanpreet Kondal in Khanna received immense appreciation. The hope is that similar programs will be organized in all subdivisions. Singer Roshan Prince added a musical touch to the campaign against drugs, captivating the audience with his songs. Prince expressed the need to bring back the old glory of Punjab, appealing to the government to support artists. He encouraged artists to produce songs that keep the spirit of Punjabi heritage alive.
