Kotputli seat is one of the 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan. Currently, this seat is held by the Congress, and the legislator here is Rajendra Singh Yadav. In 1967, the Swatantra Party’s Shriram Ravat and in 1972, the Swatantra Party’s Sureshchand became legislators. In 1977, independent candidate Ramkaran won the election. In 1980, Congress made a comeback and Shriram Ravat became the legislator. In 1985, independent candidate Muktilal reached the legislative assembly. In 1990, independent candidate Ramkaran Singh secured a victory. In 1993, Congress’s Ram Chandra Ravat won the election. However, in 1998, the BJP made a comeback, and Raghuvir Singh of BJP won the election. In 2003, once again, an independent candidate, Subhash Sharma, became the legislator. In 2008, RLP’s Ramsarup Kasana won the election. After that, when the legislative assembly elections were held in 2013 and 2018, the people of Kotputli blessed Congress’s Rajendra Singh Yadav with victory, and he was elected as a legislator.
Speaking of the caste dynamics in the Kotputli assembly seat, there are a total of 2,25,581 voters. Among them, approximately 40,000 voters belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. In this legislative assembly constituency, there are around 1,20,000 voters from the Yadav, Saini, Gurjar, and Kumawat communities. Brahmin voters number around 20,000. Additionally, there are approximately 30,000 Jat and Rajput voters.
