ARMY NURSING COLLEGE TO BE SET UP IN PANCHKULA

Decks have been cleared for the construction of the Army Nursing College at Bataud village on National Highway-73 in the Panchkula district in Haryana. The college will be run by the Western Command Headquarters of the Indian Army. Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta had been making efforts to establish a Nursing college for a long time and already got allotted 10 acres of land from the State Government for this purpose. Gupta, on Monday, met Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and requested him to start the construction work of this Army Nursing College at the earliest. Besides this, he also requested Rajanth Singh for the setting up of a defence equipment manufacturing industry on HMT land in Pinjore. Panchkula adjoining the Punjab and Himachal Pardesh borders is one of the main centres of the state.

The site where the Army Nursing College would come up in Bataud village is just 20 km from the Western Command Headquarters at Chandimandir. With Gupta’s persistent efforts, the State Government allotted the land to set up this college. In February 2019, it transferred this land to the Western Command Headquarters but the college construction could not be done due to lack of funds. Now, Gupta has requested the Defence Minister to release the grants for the construction work at the earliest.
