A day before his retirement from the military, Lt Gen Yogendra Dimri, the general officer in charge of Central Command, led the Shatrujeet paratroopers in a command leap that was planned in Agra. Lt Gen Dimri was among the 70 men who participated in the parachutist leap, all of whom embodied the adage “Men Separate, Every Man an Emperor.”
On February 28, 2023, Lt Gen Y Dimri retires from the Indian Army after a distinguished career spanning almost 40 years.
This is the first instance of an Army Commander performing a parachute jump on his last day of active duty.
Veterans, Veer Naris, soldiers, and the families of the “Maroon Beret” fraternity all
observed the jump.
“The jump was a testament to the General’s commitment and dedication to the Indian Army,” the official said.
Lt Gen Dimri took the opportunity to interact with veterans and acknowledge their contributions.
Dimri also visited his parent unit 411 (Independent) Para Field
Company and witnessed a demonstration of unarmed combat
techniques in a new arena that provides troops with state-of-the-art facilities for unarmed combat.
