Armed Forces Veterans’ Day celebrated at Raj Bhawan

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha observed Armed Forces Veterans’ Day at Raj Bhawan, paying heartfelt tributes to the valiant martyrs and engaging with Veterans, Veer Naris, and Next of Kin of Armed Forces heroes.
Expressing unwavering gratitude, the LG emphasized the enduring debt the nation owes to its soldiers, safeguarding unity, integrity, and sovereignty. He underscored that the welfare of ex-servicemen remains a top priority for the administration.
During the interaction, Manoj Sinha advocated the active involvement of retired soldiers, officers, and policemen in the ongoing fight against terrorism. While acknowledging that terrorism is on its deathbed, he cautioned against attempts by adversaries to reignite it.
Highlighting the significant progress witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir over the last four years, the Lt Governor commended the collective efforts that have propelled the region on a path of growth and prosperity. He noted that J&K has experienced the highest influx of tourists since Independence.
Addressing the collaborative efforts of the police, army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Lt Governor Sinha emphasized their coordination to thwart nefarious attempts by neighboring countries to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed confidence in the continued vital contributions of ex-servicemen in the fight against terrorism.
The Lt Governor appealed to citizens to generously contribute to the welfare of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris, emphasizing the collective responsibility to ensure a life of dignity for veterans and martyrs’ families. He assured comprehensive support from the administration, including the availability of land for Sainik Colonies in both Kashmir and Jammu regions. Additionally, there is a determination to increase ex-gratia as a mark of respect for the bravehearts of the Army.
As part of the event, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha honored Veer Naris, recognizing their sacrifice and resilience. The ceremony was attended by Lt Gen RK Sharma (Retd.), Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor, Brig.
