Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap reached Versova police station on Thursday for interrogation over actress Payal Ghosh’s FIR against him. He recorded his statement in connection with the sexual assault complaint and subsequent FIR alleging rape registered against him. On Wednesday, the Mumbai police had summoned Kashyap to be present at the Versova police station for interrogation over the complaint.
Payal Ghosh alleged that the director raped her at a place in Yari Road in Versova in 2013. Ghosh registered an FIR in the case on September 23, under the following Sections- section 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty, 341 (wrongful restraint), and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code. Anurag Kashyap has been denying all the allegations levelled upon him through his tweets, also Kashyap gained support from his friends and colleagues from the film industry. Actor Payal demanded Anurag’s arrest in the case expressing the mental trauma she went through. Earlier, the actor said that she had talked about the allegations during the #MeToo movement also in 2018 but she was insisted to delete her tweets by her family and industry friends. After getting support from actor Kangana Ranaut and union Minister Ramdas Athawle, Payal also had a meeting with Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari. While the actor has been demanding arrest, the Versova Police has began the probe to gather more information and evidence in the case. The victim actress also underwent medical test at cooper hospital on Thursday.
