A Mumbai court has granted bail to Anil Jaisinghani, an alleged bookie, in a case related to the attempted extortion and bribery of Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Jaisinghani had been arrested by Mumbai police in March this year, following a complaint filed by Amruta Fadnavis.
His bail was approved by Additional Sessions Judge D.D. Almale. Notably, his daughter, Aniksha Jaisinghani, who is also a co-accused in the case, had already been granted bail earlier. As part of the bail conditions, the court has mandated Anil Jaisinghani’s daily attendance during proceedings and instructed him not to threaten or offer promises or inducements to prosecution witnesses. Furthermore, he has been directed to surrender his passport to the investigating officer and obtain prior court permission if he intends to leave India.
The case against the father-daughter duo includes charges of conspiracy and extortion under the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Authorities have also noted several other pending cases involving Anil Jaisinghani.
