TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the CBI on Saturday morning in Kolkata in relation with the CBI’s investigation into the school jobs scandal.
In spite of heightened safety in the area, Banerjee drove to the CBI office at Nizam Palace at 10:58 am to meet with the investigators.
The Enforcement Directorate raided Sujay Krishna Bhadra’s home earlier in the day as part of its investigation into the school jobs fraud, according to a central agency officer. Sujay Krishna Bhadra is thought to be connected to the TMC senior brass.
According to the official, the raid was conducted at “Kalighat er Kaku’s” (Kalighat’s uncle) well-known Behala home.
For his alleged involvement in unauthorised appointments made in various state-run and state-aided institutions in West Bengal, Bhadra had testified before the CBI on March 15.
The ED is investigating the money trail connected to the alleged anomalies in the recruitment in schools while the Central Bureau of Investigation is looking into the criminal component of the fraud.
