Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sarfira’ to release on July 12

Actor Akshay Kumar on Tuesday announced the title and release date of the Hindi remake of blockbuster Tamil film Soorarai Pottru.
The movie has been titled Sarfira, and Akshay will step into the shoes of Suriya, who played the lead role in the original.

In the teaser released by the makers, Akshay is seen riding a bike in a carefree manner, as he leans back to showcase his daredevil attitude.
He captioned the video, “Dream so Big, they call you Crazy! #Sarfira releasing only in cinemas on 12th July, 2024. #MaarUdi.” The teaser was also shared by Suriya, who is one of the producers of the Hindi remake. Fans took to the comments section of the teaser to share their excitement for the film.

While some fans believe that blockbusters like Soorarai Pottru should not be made, others expressed their excitement on seeing Akshay Kumar in the movie.
A fan commented, “Can’t wait to see you in this film!! You’ll rock it!! @akshaykumar”, while another one wrote, “Movies like this shouldn’t be remaked na.” The film will also feature a cameo by Suriya. Both Akshay and Suriya had shared a picture during the film’s shoot to inform fans of the exciting collaboration.

The film was earlier scheduled to release in September 2023. While sharing the first poster of the film, Akshay had written on social media, “We are ready for take off! Production No. 27 (Untitled) releases in theatres worldwide on 1st September, 2023.”
Sarfira also stars Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Sudha Kongara, who also directed the original movie, which released in 2020.
