Rumana Molla started her career with the kids’ show MAD for Pogo which she anchored and choreographed. She then did theatre and worked as a choreographer on ads and international shows before she started working in films. Her filmography includes Pyaar ka Punchnama 2, Irada, Trial of Satyam Kaushik and Virgin Bhanupriya. She has also worked on web shows such as Life Sahi Hai, It’s Not That Simple and Dev DD. She is a trained actress, came out as the topper of her batch at AAFT and does theatre. Excerpts:

Q. Please tell us about your character in Bawri Chhori.

A. I loved my role and the character. Ana is someone who has seen a lot at a young age. She’s alone, has nobody to lean on even though she’s very young and she’s all heart. She’s not cynical. I also loved the look I was given. Having blue hair was fun and interesting.

Q. How different is your character from your other movies?

A. This character is completely different from anything I have done so far. First, she’s British and that gave me the opportunity to learn a new accent. This character was also well fleshed out and had a lot of interesting moments.

Q. What preparation did you undergo to fit into the role?

A. From the moment I signed the film until the end of the shoot, every film, every YouTube video, every interview, every show I watched was British. I had forbidden myself to watch American content. For the rest, it’s the process that I usually follow which is to dive into the character’s life and her personality.

Q. Web series or films, what do you prefer? And why?

A. I used to prefer films but I have started to enjoy wed series a lot. I am really looking forward to doing a series that spans over several seasons. I would love to reprise a character over years, I have never experienced that so far.

Q. How was your experience working with Ahana Kumra and Vikram Koccher?

A. I didn’t have any scenes with Vikram Koccher. I had a lot of fun with Aahana. She’s very easy going, warm and the best thing about her is that she doesn’t burden people around her with her ego. She’s also really good at improvisation.

Q. Upcoming projects?

A. I am currently shooting for a web series which is based on cricket and it’s the meatiest part I’ve gotten so far.
