After Pak terrorists, Naxals trying to target security forces using drones

A report of the intelligence agency has warned the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that after the terrorists in Kashmir, now the Naxals are trying to target the security forces through drones.

It has been revealed in the report of the intelligence agency that during the last one month, some parts related to drone technology have been recovered from the Naxalites during raids in the areas of Sukma, Bijapur, Jharkhand. Literature of technical details related to drones has also been recovered from them.

According to sources, on 7 June, a suspicious drone was sighted in Sukma’s Dornapal area, after which there was a stir among the security forces. After this, agencies in the area alerted all security forces to keep an eye on suspicious drones. It is believed that the Naxalites are trying to do a recce of the security forces using drones.

According to intelligence sources, a big meeting was held at the Multi Agency Centre (MAC) after the suspicious drone was sighted. The recent intelligence inputs shared with agencies operating in the Naxal areas of Chhattisgarh led to the conclusion that the ultras have started using drones for inputs.

According to intelligence reports, Naxalites are trying to target security forces in many areas, including Sukma-Bastar. Sources in the security forces say that so far, these drones are of the basic model, which are available in the market, but when it comes to technological advancements, it is a major cause of concern for the agencies.

Sources said that these drones have also been used to conduct recce of the areas and watch the activities of the security forces in the respective areas, although in the future, these drones can also be used to carry out attacks.

A senior security officer told The Daily Guardian that all agencies have been asked to be alert; instructions have also been issued to follow SOPs completely so that any plan of the Naxalites can be foiled.

Meanwhile, a meeting to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir took place on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in Delhi.

The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh, ADG Jammu Mukesh Singh and IB Chief Arvind Kumar. This came after two low-intensity explosions were reported in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. The explosion that occurred inside the premises of the Air Force Station, Satwari campus, Jammu, on June 27 and a subsequent blast, after about six minutes, were carried out by drones in a well-planned conspiracy that led to the injury to two Air Force personnel and damaged the office buildings.

The investigation into the Jammu Air Force station attack case has revealed that drones were used in carrying out the blast. The sources also said that either Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) or The Resistance Front (TRF) could be behind the drone attack.
