A day after ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh’s mentor, Papalpreet Singh, was arrested in Amritsar district under the National Security Act, the Punjab Police issued a direct message: “You can run, but you can’t hide from the long arm of the law.”
According to police, Papalpreet Singh was transferred to the Dibrugarh jail in Assam on Tuesday.
Punjab police took to their official social media handle which as Twitter and Facebook to say, “You can run, but you can’t hide from the long arm of the law’. Punjab Police #arrested Papalpreet Singh, main associate of #AmritpalSingh.”
“We urge citizens to maintain peace & harmony in the region,” the Punjab Police added.
On Tuesday morning, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Kumar left Amritsar with Papalpreet Singh for Dibrugarh Jail in Assam.
They flew out of Shri Guru Ramdas International Airport. Papalpreet Singh is also accused of having contact with Pakistan’s ISI. Amritpal Singh, a Khalistan supporter, is still on the run after fleeing police in Jalandhar district on March 18.
