In a proactive move towards bolstering the horticulture sector in Jammu and Kashmir, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, conducted a comprehensive review meeting to assess the performance and functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing Corporation (JKHPMC).
During the meeting, attended by Principal Secretary of Agriculture Production Department, Shailendra Kumar, Managing Director of JKHPMC, Imamuddin, and other senior officers, Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized the untapped potential of JKHPMC in contributing significantly to the horticulture sector. He urged the management to leverage modern mechanizations and technological interventions to enhance the corporation’s impact on the sector.
The Advisor encouraged the officers to explore innovative ways and technologies to maximize the reach of JKHPMC, making it competitive with the current food sector industries. He stressed the need to optimize operations and assets, calling for a strategic upgrade of the corporation’s units to effectively compete in the evolving food industry landscape.
While scrutinizing the progress of ongoing projects, including the Food Processing and Packaging Unit in Baramulla, Food Processing and Packaging Unit at the Fruit Transshipment Centre in Narwal, and the Integrated Hi-tech Sorting, Grading, and Packaging Centre in Bijbehara, Advisor Bhatnagar directed the Managing Director of JKHPMC to expedite the pace of work. The objective is to ensure that all ongoing projects become operational within the established timelines, contributing to the growth and efficiency of the horticulture sector.
During the meeting, the Managing Director of JKHPMC presented a detailed overview of the corporation’s performance, functioning, and the progress of ongoing projects, outlining the steps being taken to align the corporation with contemporary industry standards.
