ACTOR ASIF BASRA FOUND DEAD IN DHARAMSHALA

Actor Asif Basra was found dead in a private complex in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, on Thursday, the police said. The officials further said the actor was found hanging in the complex when the police reached the spot.

“Film actor Asif Basra found dead in a private complex in Dharamshala. He was found hanging,” Kangra, Superintendent of Police, Vimukt Ranjan said.The police and the forensic team are at the spot and is investigating the matter and further details are awaited.

Basra has done character roles in several Bollywood films including Jab We Met, Ek Villain, Fanney Khan, Roy, Hichki, among others. He has also worked in several web shows including Amazon Prime’s Paatal Lok.

As the news of his death spread on social media, shocked colleagues and friends posted tributes. “Rest in peace Asif Basra. Heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones,” Kareena Kapoor, her co-star in Jab We Met, said.

Anushka Sharma wrote, “My sincere condolences and prayers with the family and loved ones. RIP Asif Basra.”

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, actor Manoj Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui found the news shocking and unbelievable.

Responding to the news, Tisca Chopra said, “What a dreadful bloody year.. another colleague gone.” Recalling his association with him in two films, Nikitin Dheer said, “Extremely shocked and shaken to hear about #AsifBasra.. I have worked with him in two films… always full of life… Very, very sad.”

Ranvir Shorey recalled Asif Basra as “a warm, generous and exuberant co-actor and friend”, who “will be missed dearly”.
