Accused in POCSO case gets 20-year sentence

The Special Court for POCSO cases sentenced the accused Ravindra, who sexually assaulted a minor in her home, to twenty years in prison in the capital’s POCSO cases. Additionally, the court has imposed a fine of 95 thousand rupees on the accused.
The court stated in its order that, according to medical evidence, there were no signs of injury or trauma on the victim’s body. Therefore, even if the minor victim had consented to the incident, it would be inconsequential, as the law does not recognize the consent of a minor.
On behalf of the prosecution, Special Public Prosecutor Vijaya Pareek told the court that the victim’s father had lodged a report regarding the incident at Kotputli police station on January 12, 2021.
The report said that on January 4, he had gone to Gurugram and his wife had also gone to work. In such a situation, only his 14-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son were at home. During this time, the accused living in the neighbourhood entered their house. He threatened the son sent him to the terrace and sexually assaulted the victim. When the accused was coming out of the house, the woman living in the neighbourhood also saw him.
While leaving after the act, the victim’s brother was threatened to be killed if he informed anyone about the incident. Meanwhile, the victim informed her mother about the incident on January 6. During this time, the victim fell ill and was treated till January 10. Acting on the report, the police arrested the accused and presented the charge sheet in court.
