The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Partap Singh Bajwa criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Tuesday for spending Punjab’s funds on advertising its doorstep delivery program while ministerial staff extended their pen-down strike until December 15.
Bajwa emphasized that before launching such schemes, the AAP government should address the genuine demands of employees, who play a crucial role in service delivery.
“Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has failed miserably to address the legitimate issues of Punjab government employees. Consequently, the people of Punjab are the ones suffering. What is the point of launching this scheme when the existing staff has refused to work due to the apathy of the AAP government?” questioned Bajwa.
He highlighted that over 50,000 Punjab government employees across 52 departments have been on strike since November 8.
Bajwa also pointed out that the central government rejected the AAP Punjab government’s proposal for special assistance (loan) of Rs 1837.33 crore for 103. Despite this, the fund-starved AAP government continues reckless spending on publicity.“Without addressing ground-level issues, this AAP government scheme, like previous ones, is expected to fail miserably. Earlier, the AAP government transformed Primary Health Centres into Aam Aadmi Clinics, facing fund stoppage under the National Health Mission. Such ill-conceived schemes will not work on the ground,” added Bajwa.
