AAP’s Anurag Dhanda slams Haryana govt over education CRISIS, RAISES alarm on school closures

Senior Vice President of the Aam Aadmi Party, Anurag Dhandha, issued a statement on Sunday, targeting the Khattar government over the education system in Haryana. He said that the education system in Haryana has completely collapsed. The BJP government is shutting down 832 schools in the state under the pretext of mergers, jeopardizing the future of around 7,349 children. Additionally, accreditation for 1,032 private schools has been revoked, putting the future of nearly 60,000 children in jeopardy. The Khattar government is conspiring to close down government schools in the state.
He mentioned that due to the deterioration of the education system, the Haryana government has already been fined 5 lakhs by the High Court. Chief Minister Khattar needs to explain why there are fewer than 20 children in primary schools. In the legislative assembly, the government itself admitted that more than 1,500 schools in the state lack toilets and over 8,000 lack classrooms. Consequently, children are forced to study under trees. Hundreds of schools lack access to drinking water and electricity connections. Furthermore, children are not safe in schools; recently, a school wall collapsed in Rewari, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old child.
According to the CAG report, there has been corruption in providing books to children. More than 30,000 teaching positions in government schools remain vacant, with several schools having only one teacher for four classes. Children are compelled to study in government school buildings that are 70 to 80 years old. He stated that while on one hand, the Punjab government increased the education budget, the Haryana government reduced the education budget by 11.7%.
