AAP on backfoot over SYL issue

With a few days left in Adampur bypolls, all political parties are leaving no stone unturned to win the battle. Amid this, the issue of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal pending for decades is in the center of discussions as the BJP, the Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) continue to target the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stating that the party should clear its stand on SYL issue and Haryana’s demand of water share in SYL. Thus, a fresh bickering on the issue of SYL among the leaders of all political parties in Haryana has begun. The AAP is leaving no stone unturned to establish itself in Haryana. With tall claims of winning the by polls, the AAP leaders seem to be in trouble over the issue as apart from the political parties, even common people want the AAP to clarify its stand. In an apparent dig over the long-pending Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, the BJP continues slamming on the AAP and AAP led Punjab government as well as the Party supremo and the the Delhi Chief Minister saying that SYL water is very important and instead of providing our share, the Punjab government left no stone unturned ignore the concerns of Haryana. On one side, the state is not getting water while on the other side, the AAP-led Delhi government is demanding more water from Haryana which is not fair.
The AAP boss Arvind Kejriwal had visited Adampur assembly constituency last month where Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was with him — the BJP had dared him to take a clear stand on water-sharing between the two states. Even the Congress and INLD are taking a dig at the AAP stating that “Will Arvind Kejriwal announce that Haryana will get its due share of river water? Earlier, the AAP was in a bit of a fix a few months ago after its Haryana in-charge Sushil Gupta said that the party will ensure SYL’s construction if it comes to power. Although, everyone is much familiar that all parties are putting their best gain political mileage over the issue.

Pertaining to the matter, a meeting held between the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal and his counterpart Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab that could not reach any conclusion.
