Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, AAP MLA representing Amritsar North and former IGP, voiced concerns about the decline of AAP’s ideology. He discussed governance issues within the party in Punjab in an interview with a private media outlet.
Addressing concerns over justice delays in the Bargari and Behbal Kalan sacrilege incidents, Kunwar Vijay Partap criticized the handling of these cases by the Punjab Police. Disappointed with the lack of action against those responsible, he expressed doubts about receiving justice from the current Bhagwant Singh Mann government.
While initially having high hopes for the AAP government, Kunwar Vijay Partap raised concerns about a perceived influence of bureaucrats and police officers in decision-making processes, similar to previous governments. He emphasized the need for the Chief Minister to choose between being a prisoner of the situation or confronting adverse circumstances.
Commenting on the drug menace in Punjab, Kunwar Partap Singh criticized the lack of serious efforts to apprehend major offenders. He questioned the handling of the drug case against former Akali minister Bikram Majithia and expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation’s progress.
Regarding vendetta politics, Kunwar Vijay Partap disapproved of arrests made by the Bhagwant Mann government, stating that such actions contradicted AAP’s political ideology. He highlighted his opposition to the arrest of Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira and criticized cases filed against other AAP members. Kunwar Vijay Partap disclosed changes in his relationship with AAP leadership, stating that he had joined politics at Arvind Kejriwal’s insistence but observed a shift after the formation of the government. He emphasized the importance of criticizing wrongdoing within the party and reiterated his commitment to the ideals of character, credibility, and performance.
