Eight bills passed by the Punjab Legislative Assembly are currently awaiting the approval of the President. The information was shared by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra, in response to a question in the Lok Sabha. Mishra revealed that 158 such bills from various states are pending with the Ministry of Home Affairs for the President’s consideration, with Tamil Nadu having the highest count of 19 pending bills. It is noteworthy that Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit recently forwarded three bills passed by the Punjab Legislative Assembly for President’s consideration, including the Sikh Gurdwara (Amendment) Bill, 2023, Punjab University Law (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and Punjab Police (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
