6.0 magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan, tremors felt in Kashmir and Delhi

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck Afghanistan on Thursday, with its tremors reverberating through Kashmir and even reaching New Delhi. The seismic event occurred at 2:50 pm, causing brief yet noticeable tremors in Srinagar and various parts of the Valley.

The epicenter of the earthquake, located in Afghanistan, was reported by the US Geological Survey (USGS) to be at a depth of 192 km. The quake, with a magnitude of 6.4 Richter, struck 44 km SSW of Jurm in Afghanistan at a depth of 206.6 km.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of loss of life or property as a result of the earthquake. The National Center for Seismology provided additional details, stating that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.1 and occurred at a depth of 220 km in Afghanistan.

The widespread impact of the earthquake, felt in both Kashmir and the Indian capital of New Delhi, underscores the regional reach of seismic events. Authorities are monitoring the situation, and citizens are advised to stay vigilant and follow safety protocols in the aftermath of the earthquake.
