54th GST Council Meeting Set For September 9 In New Delhi

The 54th GST Council meeting is scheduled for September 9, 2024, in New Delhi. The GST Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and including representatives from all states and Union Territories, serves as the top decision-making authority for indirect taxes in India.

“The 54th Meeting of GST Council will be held on 9th September, 2024 at New Delhi,” the GST Council said in a post on X Tuesday.

The Council is expected to address topics such as rate rationalisation, compliance measures, and ITC reforms, among other issues.

The 53rd GST Council meeting was held on June 22, 2024. During this meeting, the council made several recommendations concerning taxation, ITC claims, and demand notices. They proposed a standard 12% tax rate for all milk cans and recommended waiving interest on penalties related to tax demand notices.
