In Mohali, 500 tractors and trollies block the road, causing inconvenience for the second consecutive day for those traveling to the airport. Under the leadership of the United Farmers Front, thousands of farmers affiliated with 32 farmer organizations continued their protest for the second day at the Golf Range in Mohali Phase-11 and the protest site in Sector-5, Panchkula. Approximately nine to ten thousand farmers are present in Mohali, who have come from various districts of Punjab. Around 500 tractors and trollies have been stationed on both sides of the road, creating a blockade in the area stretching from Bestech Mall to Beverley Golf Range, causing difficulties for those commuting to and from the airport. The protest is expected to continue on Tuesday, with more farmers joining.
On Tuesday, the farmers celebrated Guru Parab at the protest site. In the morning, they recited Sukhmani Sahib and offered prayers for the well-being of all. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait also arrived at the protest site on the second day and raised the voice for the rights of the farmers. After the meeting with the governor, the decision on further strategy will be made. Meanwhile, due to the ongoing protest in Mohali and the police presence on the Mohali-Chandigarh border, the administration has taken measures to ensure safety.
In Panchkula, the number of farmers at the protest site in Sector-5 is continuously increasing. Farmers have been arriving at the protest site on tractors, trollies, and bikes since Sunday night. Farmers from London have also come to support the three-day mega protest of the farmers. Shailvinder Singh, a resident of Kapurthala, who recently retired as a professor from a university in London, expressed his solidarity with the farmers and stated that they will continue to protest until the government accepts their demands.
On another note, a sub-inspector collided with a car driven by a farmer near the farmers’ tent at Ambala number. The collision involved a standing Skoda car and a water tanker. The farmer, Rajinder Singh, claimed that the sub-inspector, Devendra Singh, collided with his stationary Skoda car. After the collision, the farmer leader, along with others, handed over the keys of the car to the police officer present at the scene. The Deputy Superintendent of Police immediately directed the SHO of Sector 5 Police Station to conduct a medical examination of the sub-inspector.Farmers also expressed support for the Kisan Morcha (Farmers’ Front) at the Khaumi Insaf Morcha (National Justice Front) on Monday in large numbers. Farmer leader Darshan Pal stated that they are concerned about the demands of the Khaumi Insaf Morcha as they are fighting for the rights of the farmers. The coordinators of the morcha, including Bhai Pal Singh France, Indervir Singh, lawyer Gursharan Singh, Balwinder Singh Kala, Balbir Singh, Jathedar Raja Raj Singh, Jathedar Kulwinder Singh, and Bhai Jaswinder Singh Rajpura, were welcomed by the farmers, and their demands were supported.
