50 dead as heavy rain hits Himachal, floods and landslides cause chaos

Over the past three days, heavy monsoon rains in northern and eastern India have caused flash floods and landslides that have killed dozens of people and left many more missing. Over the past three days, at least 50 deaths have been reported in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Odisha, according to the reports.

In other areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the rains pounded hundreds of villages, swept away mud homes, inundated roads, and wrecked blandslde ridges. The next two days are expected to see very severe to extremely heavy rain, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.

According to the top official, five individuals who went missing after heavy rains caused flash floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh were still unaccounted for on Sunday.

On Saturday, rain-related occurrences in the state resulted in up to 22 fatalities and 12 injuries. Districts in Mandi, Kangra, and Chamba reported the most damage.
