5 most dangerous banned children’s toys

The evolution of toys over time has brought both nostalgia and relief. While certain toys evoke fond memories, others can be quite unsettling. The advancement in toy design has ensured that today’s toys are more appealing and safer for children to play with, compared to those from the past. Although we may feel a sense of nostalgia for classic toys, it’s comforting to know that modern toys prioritize safety and provide a more enjoyable play experience.

CLACKERS
Clackers, also known as Click Clacks or Knockers, were toys specifically created for vigorously and rapidly striking them together. However, the consequence of this design was numerous incidents of shattered lamps, TVs, and potentially even broken bones caused by these toys.

EASY BAKE OVEN
Despite these toys earned a spot in the National Toy Hall of Fame, Hasbro once had to recall over one million Easy Bake Ovens back in the early 2000s. Why? Because a design flaw allowed the oven to trap and severely burn children`s fingers.

SNACKTIME CABBAGE PATCH KID
These dolls were the most adorable cannibals. They mimicked a “real chewing action” as they ate up plastic fries and other treats. The problem was, the dolls didn’t discriminate between food, fingers, or hair. While the doll didn’t actually eat the hair and fingers, they would get stuck and many times the results were painful.

LAWN DARTS
Lawn darts, also known as Jarts, were solid and weighty metal objects with sharp points that posed a serious impalement risk. The Consumer Product Safety Commission took action in 1988 to ban these dangerous toys after approximately 7,000 reported injuries. Due to their inherent danger, lawn darts were deemed unfit for recreational use.

SKY DANCERS
It wasn’t until six years after the mid-90`s debut of these toys, they were recalled after reports of over 100 injuries. Not to mention the countless light fixtures and windows that likely had to be replaced. These are just some of the many toys that have been recalled over the years. The good news is, there are still plenty of toys from the past that are safe for kids to play
