5 Bus Passengers From Bihar Apprehended With Cannabis At Tripura Border

In a renewed crackdown on drug smuggling, police intercepted an interstate bus traveling from Dharmanagar to Silchar, apprehending five passengers and seizing a significant quantity of cannabis on Tuesday evening. The bus was stopped and searched near the Churaibari police station at the Tripura border, led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Samaresh Das.

ANI quoted Das, “The search operation revealed multiple small packets of cannabis found with five passengers from Bihar.” The confiscated cannabis, weighing a total of seven kilograms, is estimated to have a black market value of approximately one lakh rupees.

Among those arrested is a 24-year-old woman identified as Shivani Rani. The other four male passengers are Bhullu Singh (28), Amar Nath (35), Satyaranjan Goin (43), and Bhullu Kumar (29). All detainees are residents of Vaishali district in Bihar.

The police have filed a case against the five under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Shivani Rani was transferred to Dharmanagar Women’s Police Station on Tuesday night, while the four male detainees are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Das confirmed.
