4 terrorist associates of LeT arrested; arms & ammunition recovered in Kulgam operation

In a coordinated operation between law enforcement agencies and security forces, a significant blow has been dealt to terrorist activities in Kulgam as four associates linked with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were apprehended. The operation also resulted in the confiscation of a substantial arsenal of arms and ammunition, underscoring the continued vigilance and proactive measures of the security apparatus in combating terrorism.
The arrests transpired as part of an intensive investigation initiated under FIR No 14/2024 U/S 13, 18, 39 UA(P) act registered at Police Station Qaimoh, which aimed to dismantle terrorist networks and disrupt their nefarious designs in the region. Acting on actionable intelligence, Kulgam Police, in close collaboration with Army (1RR) and CRPF (18Bn), launched a meticulously planned operation that culminated in the successful apprehension of four terrorist associates.
The identified individuals are Zahoor Ahmad Pandit, Basir Hussain Pandit, Imtiyaz Gull, and Gulzar Ahmad Khar, all residents of Wanpora. Their affiliation with LeT, a notorious terrorist organization known for its violent extremism and subversive activities, underscores the gravity of the threat they posed to peace and stability in the region.
During the operation, authorities seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the possession of the apprehended individuals, including 1 Pistol, 2 Pistol Magazines, 20 Pistol rounds, and 4 UBGs (Under Barrel Grenade launchers), along with 24 rounds of INSAS ammunition. This substantial recovery underscores the sophisticated nature of the terrorist network and the imperative of sustained efforts to dismantle such infrastructures.
While the arrests mark a significant success in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, the investigation remains fluid, with authorities actively pursuing leads to uncover additional associates and thwart any potential terrorist plots. The commitment of security forces and law enforcement agencies to safeguarding the lives and liberties of citizens remains unwavering, as they continue to remain vigilant against the persistent threat of terrorism.
As the investigation progresses, further arrests and recoveries are anticipated, reaffirming the resolute determination of the security establishment to uphold peace, security, and the rule of law in the region.
