The Punjab State Ministerial Service Union (PSMSU), engaged in a strike since November 8, staged a demonstration at the light point of the Punjab School Education Board, expressing discontent against the government’s indifference. During the protest, an effigy was burnt, accompanied by fervent slogans against the government. PSMSU Mohali President Navvarinder Singh Navi voiced frustration, highlighting that despite 35 days of striking, the government remains unresponsive, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann allegedly refusing to schedule a meeting.
President Navi further revealed plans to devise the union’s next strategy through an online meeting involving all districts of Punjab on Saturday. He warned that if the government’s stance persists, employees in Chandigarh might join the strike, leaving their pens idle. Notable representatives from various departments participated in the demonstration, including Jasveer Singh and Sukhwinder Singh from the Panchayat Department, Ravinder Kaur from PUDA, Sukhchain Singh Saini from PSEB, and Harish Sharma and Parvinder Singh from the Irrigation Department. The strike, ongoing since November 8, has affected the functioning of 43 departments, including the DC Office, Transport Department, Industries, Public Health Department, Revenue Department, Treasury Office, Education Department, Food Supply Department, Health Department, Agriculture Department, Building and Road Department, and Irrigation Department. The prolonged strike is causing inconvenience to the public, amplifying the need for resolution.
