SRINAGAR
Suspected militants, at around 4:45 pm on Friday, hurled a grenade on security forces in Nawa Bazaar area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
A senior police officer told The Daily Guardian that a CRPF trooper, a JKP cop and a civilian received splinter injuries after militants lobbed grenade at the joint team of forces.
The injured have been identified as Constable Fayaz Ahmed, trooper Harish Kumar, and civilian Hazik Ali, a resident of Chanapora who runs a poultry shop.
All the injured were shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment and are in a stable condition.
Soon after the attack, the whole area was gripped in a panic and heavy deployments of police started to patrol the streets. The police deployment invited a minor incident of stone pelting, however, the protestors were dispersed shortly.
According to a police official, the area has been cordoned off in a bid to nab the perpetrators.
