265 DNB seats granted to J&K govt hospitals in a boost to medical care

The Central government has granted 265 Diplomate of National Board (DNB) postgraduate medical seats to several government hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare took the initiative to see that multiple postgraduate seats at NBEMS are awarded to various government hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir, it continued. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the union minister for health and family welfare, also sent two tweets about the allocation of DNB seats to J&K.

Mandaviya tweeted, “PM Narendra Modi Ji’s Govt has granted 265 DNB Post-Graduate medical seats across 20 district Govt hospitals in J&K. I appreciate Team NBE for accomplishing this tremendous work.”

“50% of DNB PG seats are reserved for local in-service doctors. The doctors of J&K are getting an opportunity of being trained in their own region. This was Phase 1 of the expansion of medical education & quality medical care services. In Phase 2, more PG seats will be granted,”he stated in another tweet.

Following the completion of a three-year residency, specialist doctors in India are awarded the Diplomate of National Board (DNB), a post-graduate master’s degree equivalent to the MD or MS degree.
Additionally, it stated, 50% of the PG seats are set aside for local doctors who are currently working. This gives them the chance to pursue postgraduate study.
This critical step will not only assist the people of J&K but will also give UT doctors the chance to receive training in their home communities, it was underlined.

According to the statement, this substantial action is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s objective of “Health for All,” which aims to improve healthcare services throughout the nation.
A successful healthcare delivery system in the UT will result from utilising this locally produced medical staff, it added.

In order to reduce the need for candidates from Jammu and Kashmir to go to other states in order to take the entrance exams, the union government expanded the number of examination centres within the UT itself, it was said.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir would benefit as access to and affordability of modern, high-quality healthcare will increase across practically all of the districts. It was then asserted that this will further improve the standard of primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare.
