Twenty-one doctors and health workers of Dr R Ahmed Dental College and Hospital, Chittaranjan Seva Sadan, Nil Ratan Sarkar Medical College and Hospital, and RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have also been affected.

The hostels of these hospitals have been vacated to prevent others from being infected. At RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, arrangements have been made to keep the health workers in isolation in the hostel. As a result, there is a shortage of doctors in hospitals to treat Covid patients.

The rate at which the infection is spreading, it is feared that more than 100 doctors will get affected at Sambhu Nath Pandit Hospital and Police Hospital.
