A 24-year-old man was killed in another hit-and-run accident on Wednesday in Mohali when a speeding motorcycle collided with his cycle near the Air Force station in Mullanpur.
Dev Singh, the deceased, was living in a rented house in Khuda Lahora, Chandigarh.
Dev’s friend Dinesh Rawat stated in his police complaint that they both worked as helpers at a hotel in Nayagaon and lived together. They were riding their respective cycles home on Wednesday night after finishing work. When they arrived near the Air Force station around 11.30 p.m., a speeding motorcycle hit Dev’s cycle from behind and sped away, while Dev collapsed due to severe head injuries.
Dev was rushed to GMSH, Sector 16, where doctors marked him dead.
According to Jatinder Singh, an investigative officer, the unidentified motorcyclist was booked at the Mullanpur police station under Sections 304-A, 279, and 427 of the Indian Penal Code based on Dinesh’s complaint. “We’re looking for CCTV footage to help us identify the accused.”
“The deceased’s body will be returned to the family following an autopsy,” he added.
