A special court in Gujarat on Thursday cleared all 67 accused including former BJP minister Maya Kodnani, in the 2002 Naroda Gam riots, which resulted in the deaths of 11 people.
The Ahmedabad-based court of S K Baxi, special judge for SIT cases, acquitted all the accused in one of the biggest post-Godhra riots cases which was investigated by a Supreme-Court appointed Special Investigation Team.
Those who acquitted in this case include Kodnani, former VHP leader Jaydeep Patel, and former Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi.
A total of 86 people were charged in the case, of which died while the case was still pending, while one was discharged earlier by the court.
