15th regional Brain Bee concludes at PU, Chandigarh

Department of Neurology, PGIMER, in collaboration with the Indian Brain Bee, International Brain Bee, and the Society for Neuroscience (SFN), organized the 15th Regional Brain Bee on Saturday. Since its founding in 1999 by Professor Norbert Myslinsky of the University of Maryland at Baltimore, the International Brain Bee (IBB) competition inspires young children to get involved in neuroscience.
Brain Bee Quiz in India is a live question and answer competition about Neuroscience for class 11th. It is organized as a 3-tier (regional, national, and international) where young men and women from around the world compete on neuroscience-related topics such as intelligence, memory, stress, emotions, sleep, and various neurological diseases.
The objective of the 15th Chandigarh Regional Brain Bee was to develop the base of knowledge and excellence among the students through a healthy and highly motivational meet. Students gained a lot of knowledge on neuroscience. Regional champions qualify for the national level, and national winners represent their respective countries at the international level. Last year, the regional winner from Chandigarh had secured the third place in the national competition. 16 students from different schools in Tricity registered in the 15th Regional Brain Bee. It was coordinated by Professor Dheeraj Khurana, Department of Neurology, PGIMER. 12 students were selected through a written elimination round for the final oral round of the quiz.
The program was judged by Professor Parampreet Singh Kharbanda (Department of Neurology, PGIMER), Dr. Manjul Tripathi (Department of Neurosurgery, PGIMER), Dr. Kamlesh Chakraborty (Department of Neurology, PGIMER), and eminent neurophysicians and neurosurgeons from the country.
