13 Opposition parties boycotts Speaker’s tea meet today, know the reason

The tumultuous Budget session of Parliament continued on the final day, with the Opposition maintaining its demand for a joint parliamentary committee investigation into the Adani issue.

The Congress staged a ‘Tiranga March’ from Parliament to Vijay Chowk on Thursday. The march was attended by like-minded parties such as the DMK, Samajwadi Party, RJD, NCP, and the Left.

Following the march, a joint press conference was held at the Constitution Club, where Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge questioned the government on the Adani issue and claimed that the government did not want Parliament to function.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die as opposition members marched to the well, waving placards and raising slogans. After an uproar from opposition members on the same issue, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned until 2 p.m. Speaker’s traditional tea gathering was boycotted by 13 opposition parties, including the Congress.

Union minister Kiren Rijiju condemned the session’s washout, saying the opposition disrupted the proceedings and insulted Parliament by wearing black clothes. In his words, the minister said The country is watching what the Congress is doing for one leader, Shri Rahul Gandhi. We all saw how the Congress gang went to Surat court to put pressure on the judiciary. And a Congress leader said there should be separate rules for the members of the Gandhi family.”

While Countering the allegation, Congress MP KC Venugopal said the government itself did not let Parliament run. “Why do they not want to discuss the Adani scam?” Venugopal said.

According to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the government does not want this session to continue, and whenever Opposition leaders give a notice, it is stalled. Something is fishy, which is why the government is refusing to order a JPC investigation into the Adani case, according to Kharge.
