At least 10 people are feared dead and dozens trapped under debris following a massive landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur. The district administration Kinnuar said that the massive landslide occurred at Negalsari near Bhavnagar on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway this morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur following the massive landslide. The PM assured CM Thakur of all possible support for the ongoing rescue operations in the landslide that occurred on Reckong Peo-Shimla Highway in Nugulsari area of Kinnaur. “PM @narendramodi spoke to Himachal Pradesh CM @jairamthakurbjp regarding the situation in the wake of the landslide in Kinnaur. PM assured all possible support in the ongoing rescue operations,” tweeted Prime Minister’s office. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed condolences over the incident.
Chief Minister Thakur expressed deep grief over the tragic incident near Nugulsari in Kinnaur district in which a few vehicles, including a Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus, are trapped and about 60 people are feared to be buried under the debris. The CM said that teams of ITBP, NDRF, CISF, police and district administration have reached the spot and rescue and relief operations were in progress on a war-footing.
