In Kerala’s Idukki, a tourist bus plunged down a gorge, killing one engineering student and injuring 40 others. Students from an engineering college in Tirur were returning from a study tour when the disaster happened early on Sunday.
Police officers and other authorities could be seen performing rescue operations close to the bus that had flipped in what appeared to be a woodland. The incident happened as people were ringing in the new year across the nation and in other areas of the world.
