A 21-year-old member of an orchestra troupe from Chhattisgarh was reportedly gang-raped by her fellow co-artists in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, as per the police.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, where three men, all acquainted with the survivor, allegedly gang-raped her in Palamu district. The survivor filed an FIR on Sunday, accusing the trio of the crime.

Two of the perpetrators have been arrested, with a search underway for the third, as per a police official.

“A gang rape case was registered by an orchestra dancer in the Bishrampur area of Palamu district yesterday. Two of the three accused have been arrested. The 21-year-old victim is a resident of Chhattisgarh. Accused persons and victim are known to each other and work together in the same orchestra group,” the police stated.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the third suspect, according to Palamu Police.

In a separate incident last week, a Spanish national was raped by seven individuals in Dumka while touring the country with her husband.

Based on the survivor’s statement, a case has been registered under sections 328 and 376 (2) of the IPC.

Previously, another foreign tourist was allegedly gang-raped in Dumka district, where she and her husband were spending the night in a tent. Three individuals have been arrested, while a search is ongoing for the remaining four suspects.
