The panel of psephologists, in India News Manch, talked about the future of the alliance and also how the Congress party has failed to make a mark in leading the mix of regional parties in I.N.D.I.A bloc. The panel which had Pawan Verma, Sanjay Kumar, and Yashwant Deshmukh also gave a detailed breakdown of how the bloc has failed to get its act together.
The psephologist Pawan Verma said that this time it seems like for 2024 BJP is strong and there are two reasons for it. One is Modi’s popularity sticking around him and the second one is the weakness of the opposition. Today, the opposition is scattered in bits and pieces however all the efforts of making it a united bloc has one reason and that is more than 60 percent votes didn’t chose BJP in the last Lok Sabha Elections.
Verma said, “If u see through that perspective there is a need to come together but the way they have made efforts, I am disappointed with it. And you see in 2023 June you have started this new venture. The question stands what were you (opposition) doing from 2019. Recently, you meet in Patna and then announce about the alliance.”
He added, “Had there been any professional unity, there would have been a secretariat and common minimum programme. It was all about whether you eat this or that, then you regularly met in different places and in Bhopal it was called off and then again it was delayed. So the kind of party BJP is (robust) how can you contest against Modi like this.”Another psephologist Sanjay Kumar said that there is constant friction within the alliance, and first the people who make decisions for I.N.D.I.A bloc has to take control of the alliance and be compliant to it. Kumar said, “If they are agreeing upon it then there should be made further concrete steps. Look if there is a cricket team and there is no captain who will give direction to the team?”
