Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Rajendra Rathore, addressed a public rally held in the Mandawa region of Jhunjhunu district. He stated that during the by-elections held four years ago in the Mandawa Legislative Assembly constituency, the Congress party had run a factory of false promises and assurance schemes. The consequence of this is that today, after coming to power, local Congress legislators and their henchmen have illegally taken possession of land.
He said that in Alsisar, an illegal road was forcibly constructed on the land of the Rai Mata temple, and the land was seized against the will of the people. In response, saints and the public started protesting against the autocracy of the Congress legislator. Rathore further mentioned that while government protection is provided to legislators, in Mandawa, the Superintendent of Police holds a significant role in land-related matters. He said, “When village heads raise their voices against corruption, the police are sent to their homes in the evening. The Congress government in Rajasthan is trembling in the name of Lal Diary (a corruption scandal) and Nathi Bai’s haveli (a land controversy).”
Rathore stated that the current state government is focused on promoting corruption. He accused the government of turning a blind eye to incidents of corruption and land grabbing by its officials.
He emphasized that the state government’s policy seems to be to divide votes in the name of free electricity, while the supply of electricity has deteriorated significantly. He mentioned that farmers are not getting electricity even for irrigation purposes. Rathore also accused the government of tampering with food packets distributed under the Annapurna Food Scheme, putting people’s health at risk.
